A space to gather. A place to remember. Something is taking root in Waterloo Region.

A family property. Just under an acre of grounds. A 1960s character home. A little barn. Seasonal gardens. And a forest at the edge of it all.
When our family found this place, we weren't looking for a venue. We were looking for a home.

But then we started gathering here: Friends around the fire. Kids running through the grass. Food covering the tables. Music outside. Celebrations, conversations, and nights that lasted a little longer than planned.
And somewhere along the way, we started wondering...

What could this place become?

The Russell Grounds is our answer to that question ...or maybe, more accurately, our journey to discovering it.
​
We're starting with what we already have. The trees. The gardens. The barn. The old things we've found along the way. And we're adding to it slowly — one little corner, one weird idea, one project at a time. Right now, it's becoming an outdoor creative space where photographers, creators, and their clients can come in, explore, and make the property their own.

There will still be gatherings here. There will still be celebrations. And I'm pretty sure this place will continue becoming things we haven't thought of yet.

That's kind of the point.

The Russell Grounds is an outdoor creative studio designed to be used, moved through and made your own.
Book the grounds for family sessions, seasonal minis, branding shoots, content creation, product photography or simply because you have an idea and need somewhere beautiful to bring it to life.
Throughout the property you'll find evolving scenes, natural backdrops and little corners we've created to help you get started — from the gardens and pergolas to the barn, swings, open lawn and forest.
Nothing is precious.
Move the chair. Pull the wagon somewhere else. Bring your own props. Lay a blanket in the grass. Follow the light.
We want creatives to have room to create — and the people in front of the camera to have room to actually be themselves.

The Russell Grounds carries a name that means something deeply personal to our family — one rooted in legacy, connection, experience and remembering what matters.
We hope that spirit eventually becomes something people can feel when they're here.
